
Definition of Shipment
Shipments can be transported in different modes and the following are various kinds of shipments handled by FIF:
1a) Air - Export (International): By our definition of air-export (International), it is a shipment originates either in Canada or the United States to be forwarded to an international destination and shipped by air.
b) Air - Export (Domestic) : By our definition of air-export (Domestic), it is a shipment which is being shipped within Canada by air i.e. from city to city within Canada.
c) Air - Export (Transborder): By our definition of air-export (Transborder), it is a shipment which is being shipped from Canada to the United States by air.
2a) Air - Import (International): By our definition of air-import (International), it is a shipment which originates from a foreign Country and is shipped to Canada or the United States by air.
b) Air - Import (Domestic): By our definition of air-import (Domestic), it is a shipment which is being shipped within Canada by air i.e. from city to city within Canada.
c) Air - Import (Transborder): By our definition of air-import (Transborder), it is a shipment which is being shipped from the United States to Canada by air.
3a) Ocean - Export: By our definition of ocean-export, it is a shipment which is being shipped by ocean from either Canada or the United States to a foreign Country.
b) Ocean - Import: By our definition of ocean -import, it is a shipment which is being shipped by ocean from a foreign Country to either Canada or the United States.
4a) Sea-Air combined transport (International): By our definition of Sea-Air combined transport (International), it is a shipment which is being shipped by ocean to either Canada or the United States from a foreign Country and then by air from either Canada or the United States to another foreign Country.
b) Sea-Air combined transport (Domestic): By our definition of Sea-Air combined transport (Domestic), it is a shipment which is being shipped by ocean to either Canada or the United States from a foreign Country and then by air within either Canada or the United States.
c) Sea-Truck combined transport (Domestic/Transborder): By our definition of Sea-Truck combined transport (Domestic/Transborder), it is a shipment which is being shipped by ocean from a foreign Country to either Canada or the United States and then by truck across the border to the United States or domestically within Canada.
d) Air-Air shipment: By our definition of Air-Air shipment, it is an air shipment which is being shipped by air to FIF in Canada or the United States from a foreign Country. Shipment is then being transferred "in bond" to another air carrier for shipping by air to the final destination which is another foreign Country. The process of an Air-Air shipment is by air "in" and by air "out". 5) Truck shipment (Domestic/Transborder): By our definition of Truck shipment (Domestic/Transborder), it is a shipment which is being transported by a Truck carrier domestically within Canada or across the border to the United States. This traffic can be imported and exported to and from Canada or to and from the United States or within Canada or the United States.
